A Human‑Centred Corner

This is my human‑centred corner of Smart Frames UI.

When I first started sharing content, it wasn’t all technical. It began with my passion for breaking down gender barriers and stereotypes in STEM. Having worked in male‑dominated industries for most of my career, I’ve seen the good, the ugly, and the unmentionable, and STEM Demystified was born from that experience. It was a year‑long project rooted in advocacy, education, and a desire to make STEM feel more accessible and less intimidating.

After that, my focus shifted. And to be fair, it made sense. Dashboards. DAX. Accessibility tools. GitHub repositories. All the good stuff. That technical work matters, and it continues to be a big part of what I do here.

But every now and then, I’d write something a little more personal. Less structured. Less instructional. More reflective. More human. And if I’m honest, I’ve missed that space, quite a lot.

So after spending time thinking about how else I could show up as myself, Tales From a Content Creator: Behind the Data Stories came to life. It’s a place to talk about process, uncertainty, relearning, and the moments behind the work that don’t always fit neatly into a tutorial or a checklist.

Both newsletters live here now. Different in focus, but connected by the same belief: that good work sits at the intersection of skill, intention, and empathy, and that being human is not separate from being technical.

And I’m deliberately leaving this space open‑ended. I’ve learned by now that I never quite know when the next newsletter will arrive, inspiration has its own schedule, but when it does, this is where it will land.

The creator behind Smart Frames UI, a space where storytelling meets strategy and dashboards do far more than display numbers. For over 15 years, I’ve been driven by a passion for uncovering the stories hidden within data and transforming complexity into clarity. Specialising in analytics engineering and data design, I focus on shaping well‑structured models, intuitive data flows, and visual experiences that help people understand information quickly and confidently. Through Power BI, I build insights that are not only visually compelling but also genuinely accessible, following WCAG‑aligned practices to remove barriers and ensure informed decision‑making is inclusive for everyone.
